The Coastguard’s Sisters

Coastguard’s cottages overlooking the cliff formation known as the Seven Sisters, West Sussex.

Built in the early 1800’s by the Royal Navy to help combat smuggling, the cottages were handed over to the Coastguard on their creation in 1821 and used for the next 100 years until they were decommissioned and sold.

The current residents are now combating time and tide to stop these picturesque cottages from tumbling into the sea.
